m in disease. The effect of GrB-mediated release of TGF-b on subsequent GrB expression warrants additional investigation. In conclusion, the present expertise of extracellular GrB activity in health and illness is in its infancy. As well as identifying three novel substrates for GrB, the present study provides further insight as to how an accumulation of GrB within the extracellular milieu could negatively influence and/or alter growth factor sequestration by the ECM.
